I am going to the bookstore in 2 hours and have to make the greatest decision ever made by man. Do I get Vampire: Tremere book 12 by Erik Griffin, The Fallen Fortress- book 4 of the Cleric Quintet by Salvatore, or Starship Troopers by Heinlin?
I need the first two to continue in series I have already started and I started reading the last one lsat time I was at the store and enjoyed the first 50 pages.
I recommend that you read Starship Troopers along with The Forever War by Joe Haldeman and Armor by John Steakley as an armored combat trilogy. This order gives the best effect, IMO. All of these are worth it and a library certainly has the 1st 2 of these books and perhaps the 3rd as well.
I would also 2nd the recomendation on the other Heinlein books above. I think The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is his best and Stranger is also quite good.
Thanks for the advice. I picked up the Vampire book because it was short, only 280 pages. (but its a 13 book series so it makes up for it) I’m heading to the library at 4:30 with my list of Sci-Fi books. I hope they have them all. And I hope I can find my library card.
Any Heinlein is good … Starship Troopers would be a great choice (I am a Tremere fan though!).
There are a couple of decent sized compilations of Heinlein stories that I have seen at bookstores here and there. Some of his early shorts but also others that take two stories and have them back to back.
On an appropriate tangent, I look around me at the world (near and far to me) and I wonder more and more how much truth is to be gleaned from Waldo Inc.
