Why does the clock start at 45 minutes when the half ended at 47 minutes? I know the half is supposed to end at 45 but there was I think 2 minutes of added time. Shouldn’t the clock pick up from then?

As an neophyte, my interpretation is that the stoppage time added to the first half doesn’t extend it, it makes up for stoppages. So there were really 45 minutes of football played in the first half.

I think the rules should allow for a goal to be awarded, without even a penalty kick, when a player uses his hands to keep a ball out of the net like that.
