Are the rest North Korean then?
It’s wrong that I am pulling for NKorea instead of my Latino-american brothers?..
Nah it’s Futbol!, Go North Korea!
ooooooooooh the keeper was too confident for a pass.
Jebus! Yet another keeping howler allows Brazil to take the lead.
Keeping 101: close the near post on lateral runs towards the goaline.
Wow, now that NK is down they actually have to play offense, and they look about as lost as, well, a North Korean stranded in South Africa. I guess in mitigation they are playing against Brazil.
That’s it. Once you open the can…
Elano makes it 2-0. In essence game over.
It’s just like watching Brazil, as the chant goes.
OH MY GOD! North Korea scores!!!
Glorious comeback from 2-0 down to 2-1 down for Dear Leader!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAZZZZZO!
Come on, North Korea!
Goooool! N Korea by unpronounceable player.
Brazil 2 N Korea 1 about 4 minutes left.
Brazil tops Group Of Death by virtue of their 2-1 win over a very game N Korea. Lot’s still to be said in this group – Brazil’s going to have to do better vs Ivory Coast and Portugal or they might be the ones left behind. Kaka’s still in his Real Madrid form, which means he sucks ATM.
So will the NK press go one better than the NY Post tomorrow or are they ignoring the WC completely?
Not a poor showing but not good either. That last goal only happened because of a complete meltdown of the defense. Ramires was afraid of another foul immediately after that stupid and unnecessary* yellow card and Lucio (one of my favorite defense players ever) just didn’t do what he was supposed to. The team played better in the second half but not as much as it should have and Dunga’s substitutions weren’t to my liking. Elano should have remained and Nilmar should have gone in to replace Kaká and Daniel Alves, Gilberto Silva; both of Kaká and Felipe Melo didn’t play well, which is worrisome in Kaká’s case.
2-0 was a good score and 1-0 acceptable, but to suffer a goal from North Korea?
*Unnecessary for the player to commit, not for the ref to give.
They’ll probably report it as a win for North Korea back in the land of Kim. For years the whole of North Korea is going to believe they won the World Cup in 2010.
I bet Kim’s already got a fake trophy on his mantlepiece ready and waiting.
I’m not about to say that NK can advance, but…Cote d’Ivoire and Portugal are to going to have to be very careful to not lose by more than a goal each to Brazil. North Korea looks as good as any side to grind out a 0-0 draw, and they’ll try to against both of their next foes. Just like with the Dear Leader, there’s method in that madness: who cares if you look like your only gear is reverse, if you squeak by on goal difference?
You’re right about N Korea – they look capable of squeaking a draw with just about anyone. But my point was more about the way Brazil played. I don’t think a “W” is a given against the other two if the play that way again. Slow and predictable – 'cept for an individual spurt here and there, I didn’t think they were that impressive at all.
Doesn’t sound like the All Whites wanted to do it.
Not a lot of members in that club.
Yeah, Portugal and Côte d’Ivoire played great defense and they have the offensive power to strike against Brazil.
But I don’t know if we should take Brazil’s poor performance against NK too seriously; their problem was more arrogance than inability, imo. And though Dunga’s gameplan might rely too much on Kaka, their position play looked well structured, they had enough possession to play their game and if the players had moved the ball and themselves around more, well, a lot more, they would have exposed the gaps in the defence sooner.
So, RedFury, tomorrow. Switzerland has never won a single game against Spain and it looks like your team has no trouble at all with injuries while the Swiss will be without Frei. Looks like a slam dunk, doesn’t it ?
