2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

wintertime wrote an excellent post explaining that. basically serbia adjusted after watching the australia match, and loew failed to anticipate those adjustments.

It is over !

Terrible performance by England. Well done Germany.

Alan Shearer, “They were hopeless from start to finish”. 'nuff said.

Yep, totally deserved win. Apologies in advance for what, i’m sure, will be a terrible response from the Sun et al.

England had all the luck they deserved. FFS, you’d be ashamed of a pub side that went from a free kick on the edge of the area to conceding a goal in twenty seconds, and doing it pretty much all over again two minutes later. :smack:

In all fairness, England might have come back if the goal to a 2-2 had been given by the referee. Big, big blunder. Sorry, England!

Our team showed once again nerves when they had to concede a goal – we allowed England to get back into the game and almost paid for it dearly.

But I think, it’s all right to say that the win was a deserved one and the more beautiful and more sophisticated kind of football came out on top.

And now I’m going back to the party.

Damn, that German team looks to be in cup winning form.
England was a wet newspaper other than for about 8 minutes after min 35.
But Germany looked good They should be able to handle Argentina.
And with their age etc., Euro 2012 is theirs for the taking.
Still, maybe Holland will somehow squeeze by Brazil in the quarters, get a Holland-Germany final.
A boy can dream, can’t he?

Well done Germany. Good luck in your next game.

It might have been different if we’d gone in at half time 2-2 but we’ll never know. Blatter will dismiss the calls for goal-line technology as bitter whines from the losing team.

What pissed me off the most though was logging in to WoW after the game and seeing everyone laughing at England and taking such joy in the defeat. Everyone in my guild is from England.

I held my tongue. Just.

Oh, what might have been- you have to ask if England would have been carved up like that had they not had to press forward to score the goal they’d already scored. Has to be said that the Germans were better for about 80 minutes, so you can’t really argue with the result.

Well done Germany, a well deserved win and I wish you luck for the rest of the competition.

Germany are a good side, but I don’t think they are as good as England or Australia made them look.

Well, we probably wouldn’t have conceded two goals on the break if we hadn’t been chasing the game, but that doesn’t disguise the fact the better team won.

England wobbling a bit there too, with only a few runs needed. But yes, we seem to have finally worked out how to play limited-overs scricket, after being off the pace for years.

With England and the US out, I’ll be rooting for Japan as long as they stay in. Of course, that probably won’t be all that long. Ghana, too- might be nice to see an African team lift the Cup, and with most of the European powers out, they’ve never had a better opportunity.

I’ve sen another look at the disallowed goal, and to my very great surprise the correct call was actually made. Check it out:

Well, there goes the case for video replay.

Mexico is looking dangerous. Could be 2-0 Mexico except for a few inches.

There is a published report that says Man. City had a scout at all four U.S.A. games watching Landon Donovan.

Holy shit the refereeing is atrocious.

That’s being generous. It looked like there was going to be a riot on the field.

Atrocious refereeing. A blindman could see that offside.

Booooo!

This World Cup has convinced me, beyond any argument, of the need to use replay technology. No ifs, no buts, no excuses, no whining about “tradition” or “the human factor” or any other crap like that.

Just use the fucking technology.

Jeebus–another bad call. He was way offsides and yet Argentina has the lead.

The good news is as a soccer newb, I now know what I bad call looks like.
