I just saw those threads today. Gimme a break! And if you want some feedback, you have to do the exercise I gave you. I can’t grade your homework if you won’t do it.
and maybe this is another silly question (probably).
but how much does “feel” play into the game?
i’ll use golf as an example because that is what i am most familiar with. i can play the same course every day for years and really never have the exact shot twice. similar, certainly, but each requiring just a little touch of nuance each time depending on wind direction and whether the greens were mowed yesterday or today and have we had rain recently.
btw, just so you know my two favorite movies of all time are “searching for bobby fisher” and “tin cup”.
so yeh, my perfect day would be chess over breakfast. followed by eighteen. then round it out with an hour or so of cribbage while eating greasy bacon cheese burgers.
neta: oh shit that already happened. oh wait the frack a minute that was just to get his confidence up a little bit so he would actually think he has a chance against me. i mean i don’t want him to resign on the first move. hee hee. woot woot.
Sorry about that =( Relocating from Florida to Aomori City in Japan means I did not have internet for the last 3 days. Technically I won’t have it for another week but I’m borrowing a friend/neighbor’s wireless.
He’s still contactable over on Mellophant, for those who post over there. (I’m registered but only to take part in What Exit?'s D&D thread - the rest of Mello can piss up a rope for all I care. )
We’re not due another round in the championship, but Chessic did say something about starting up a regular ladder for those who’d like it.
I’d like to get a ladder going, but if we ever do another tournament, we’ll do a massive simul so we can end it in three weeks or less. None of this half-a-year stuff.
I’m not really sure how to do a ladder. Wins-losses, running ratings, or what?
I think a ladder would be fun. I’ve been enjoying playing chess these last couple of months but I don’t think I want to challenge random people off of gameknot. Rankings might be a good idea if it’s simple that way when people join up they have an idea of how good people are and can figure out who to challenge.
actually i think a ladder would be fun. i don’t have any clue how they are set up, however.
but it would be nice to play with folks i kind of know rather than the just random folks you meet on gameknot or chess like ordedigger observes.
plus the folks that i have encountered in this endeavor over the last couple of months have been a hoot, to say the least. i wouldn’t mind continuing that.
it’s a little like the thursday poker. you kind of form a little subset of folks that share your interests and enthusiasm. and i don’t want to sound all stuffy, but you folks are a little above the cut when it just comes to the random joe off the street.
