2014 MLB Hall of Fame Ballot

That may have happened.

About a quarter of the writers have made their votes public so far. We don’t know who voted for Benitez and Jones. I see one guy (Larry Rocca) voted for Morris, Nomo, Raines, and Trammell. He says he voted against Glavine and Maddux because he doesn’t know that they were clean and they did not use their clout to get the MLBPA to take a harder line on PEDs.

I doubt Morris would’ve been anywhere clost to being elected without the Narrative.

Remember this next time someone mentions how smart this board is. We’re dumber that the BBWAA for chrissakes.

I wonder what the SD handles are for Murray Chass and Ken Gurnick?

I have some guesses.

I can’t explain why, but this is the first SDMB message board I wish I could “like” Facebook-style.

Sorry, out of town on vacation this week so I haven’t been able to participate in this as I’d like. Re: Glavine - he has been a “future Hall of Famer” in how he’s discussed since what, about 1997? My baseball coming of age, as it were, coincides with the Braves rotation dynasty, and Glavine/Smoltz/Maddux has always been a thing unto itself. Schilling was always respected as well, of course, but his best years were always in someone else’s shadow, and his HoF conversation started about 10 years after the Atlanta guys (after 07 gave him 3 WS, really). Again, I’d put all of them in once it’s all said and done.

(Incidentally, baseball-reference has an excellent mobile site, if anyone is wondering.)
