2014 Ontario Provincial Election

And, it’s not as if the governments have hoarded good settlement lands. For example, in western Canada, they were giving Crown land away to homesteaders, to encourage settlement.

I know I’m a little late to the party here (didn’t see this thread before), but I just want to say that the mistake that Ontario conservatives make is in trying to characterize the Ontario Liberal party as some sort of changeless monolithic entity. It isn’t, nor is any party. The diagnosis here is pretty simple: Dalton McGuinty was a congenital liar that no one in his right mind should ever have voted for. I’m certain that he must have started lying from the day he learned to talk. But Wynne is not Dalton McGuinty, she’s an intelligent and articulate individual and, as far as I can tell, a fairly honest one. Since there was no way the NDP was going to win, who else would anyone vote for? Tim Hudak with his fantasy jobs plan, a man who is a sort of cross between Mike Harris and Scott Walker (yes, the Wisconsin one) except possibly even stupider than either of them? I predicted he’d be stepping down as soon as the results started coming in, and indeed he did, rightfully so, that very night. These results are hardly mind-boggling. In fact I’d say that the relatively poor NDP showing was due to potential NDP votes going to Wynne to prevent the disaster of a Hudak victory. The Mike Harris debacle will not be forgotten for a long time.

…and neither will the Bob Rae days.
