Isn’t that a theme?![]()
I believe this is a SDMB issue for moderators, and not the Death Pool Commissioner
It was a rant, plain and simple. Its not a moderator issue, but a courtesy issue.
I like snark, but is it too much to put a name and brief bio in the post.
A couple of weeks, I posted the death on John Hillerman. I had search the thread for his name. Someone else had referenced his death but didn’t mention his name and only one of his famous movie quotes. My post was redundant announcement other than the fact that I actually posted his name and a bio.
For what it’s worth, I thought it was an entertaining way to report Julio Oscar Mechoso’s passing. If eschereal had included his name, it would have completely ruined the guy-who-everyone-recognizes-but-nobody-knows-his-name premise of the post. I agree that including a name and reason for fame is the best rule of thumb, but making it some sort of obligation is needless. If someone else comes along to made a redundant Julio Oscar Mechoso Is Dead post because this one wasn’t clear enough, so be it.
So are there two sets of awards: one for regular lists and one for themed? For example an Opening Kickoff Award for both the regular list and themed list?
And has it been decided that there will be two threads? Inquiring minds want to know!
I believe this is the path forward. Will try it for a year and see how it works out… Might be more work than necessary, but Death never sleeps…
Fine, there I have my lists for 2018.
Where is it?
