They came back and won against Minnesota. Thaddeus Young played extremely well.
He did. The Timberwolves are a good team but the Raptors surged near the end.
You’re gonna love Thaddeus Young. He’s a hard-nosed player.
The Blazers beat Memphis for the last game before the break. Four in a row on the road? Who are these guys? After 12 years of watching the same sort of dozy play, we’re finally seeing a team that passes the ball and defends like their lives depend on it. Nurkic was the high scorer(!) with 32. Ja Morant did his usual high-wire acrobatic act, but it wasn’t enough.
Heh - Freedom for a Nobel?
No. No. Your wife should not like the “scarf” thing.
Dayum, I’m finding it increasingly hard watching Raptors away games.
Macrame is groovy! (Not.)
Goran Dragic has signed with the Brooklyn Nets for the remainder of the year.
Stephen Curry hit an absolutely absurd 16 three-pointers in the All-Star Game, finishing with 50 points. He absolutely obliterated the previous ASG record of 9, and had he achieved this in the regular season, he would have set a new record there, as well (the current record is 14).
He did not, however, set an All-Star Game scoring record; that belongs to Anthony Davis, with 52.
Obviously, he won the All-Star Game MVP award.
I quit watching the ASG. It’s a meeting of massive egos and is just boring to me. The smart players are the ones who pass on playing in it and who get some rest before having to resume regular play.
All Star Games in the NBA, NHL and (especially) NFL are not real games, but the NBA has the best mini competitions during the break. The NBA knows how to put on entertainment.
MLB has a fairly competitive game, by comparison; while they fucked it up in Milwaukee, most years the players seem to legitimately care who wins. For his pregame speeches alone Ichiro should be in the Hall of Fame.
The Blazers may be at the end of their win streak for awhile. Nurkic is out for four weeks with plantar fasciitis.
Headline on espn dot com:
“Brotherly love: Harden gushes about Philly fans”
Wonder how long that honeymoon will last.
Ten games? Or twenty cheesesteaks?
The Blazers are in a “lose by 30 points” streak. It’s painful to watch, as the team has a lot of energy but not enough cohesion. Blame that on all the trades that have gone on recently, of course. Not having Nurk in the middle to coordinate offense and bang under the hoop is not helping. Phoenix beat them by 30 without Chris Paul or Devin Booker.
What I find most concerning about the Raptors is how much VanVleet, Siakam, and Anunoby have been playing this season. In the 70 years that records have been kept, this is the first time that three players from the same team have led the league in minutes.
I’ve been worried about this for a few months; this is a team due for a major injury collapse, and we may be seeing the start of it already.
Miami Heat guard and former Indiana Pacers All-Star Victor Oladipo made his return to the court for the first time in 11 months, recovering from a quadriceps injury that he first sustained in 2019 while playing for the Pacers. He scored 11 points and got 4 assists off the bench in a win over the Rockets.
A high-scoring, off-the-court headline-making MVP candidate who eats or drinks too much and hates practice? Beloved by Sixers fans? Never happen.
Bulls lost to Philly last night and are sinking in the standings. If DeRozan is just having an All-Star night as opposed to an MVP night, they can’t outscore good teams. Now we’re just waiting for Ball and Castro to come back, and see if that lineup is as lethal in April as it was in the early season. But clearly the regular season goal has moved from “win the conference or come close” to “avoid the play-in tournament”.
Just sharing a wacky stat - Jiannis, NBA’s second-highest scorer, is averging just 32 MPG, which is the lowest among the top 25 scorers.
Yep, you read that right.
