2024/2025 NBA Regular Season Thread

I don’t find a thread for this, so here we go.

The Timberwolves lost their season opener against the Lakers, trailing by nearly 20 points at one juncture. They’re probably having difficulty adjusting to the absence of KAT’s 20+ points. It remains to be seen if they will be able to make it to the playoffs this year, of course.

I’ll be glad when the LeBron/Bronny nonsense dies down.

So the trade weakened both the Timberwolves and the Knicks?

I don’t know much about the Knicks, although it seems like they traded a couple of decent players for KAT. Randle and DiVencenzo scored 26 between them, which is a good sign. Neither team seemed much interested in assists or rebounds.

Orlando with a solid win over Miami last night. Paolo Banchero with 33/11 and no turnovers to start the season.

Pacers beat the Pistons in the season opener but lost James Wiseman to a torn Achilles.

Paolo Banchero drops 50/13/9 on the Pacers and we barely squeak by with the four point win.

Cleveland Cavs are 4-0 with an average margin of victory of 16 ppg. This can’t be real right? No way this team is suddenly a contender after being completely mediocre the past couple years and not adding anything of significance in the off-season. Meanwhile, OKC looks like the powerhouse everyone thought they would be.

Sad to see that the Wolves have not improved their ball handling one iota since last season. Twenty turnovers for a loss against Dallas. Kyrie Irving is truly a master of the court.

Another torn Achilles for a Pacers big man; this time Isiah Jackson, lost for the season. Ugh. We should dig into the free agency pool now.

The 76ers have started out 1-4 with Joel Embiid injured, and now there’s a story that Embiid shoved a Philadelphia Inquirer reporter in the locker room who wrote an unflattering story about him.

T-wolves managed to pull out a win over Denver. 29 for Edwards and Randle continues to impress.

Well they are 10-0 now and it seems real as fuck. Now I don’t feel so bad about Orlando losing to you in the first round last year.

37 for Edwards against a hapless Portland team. Anferny Simons has never really matured as a player, it seems. He showed a lot of promise, but hasn’t been consistent over the years.

yeah, I’m nor sure what to make of this. They did not add anyone of significance in the off season except, of course, a new coach. I always thought a coach had only a modest affect on winning in the NBA, the teams with the most talent and the best superstars generally won. I guess I’m calling that into question now.

yeah, he never took the next step in his maturation and now seems to even have taken a step back this year. Still only 25 years old though!

Damien was mentoring him, but then moved on to the Bucks.

The Spurs front office has reported that coach Greg Popovich is recovering from a mild stroke suffered November 2. They predict a full and complete recovery.

The Portland Trail Blazers lost by 45 on Sunday and then demolish the Timberwolves last night. The Wolves had previously kicked the Blazers ass last Friday.

There’s a rematch tonight, interesting scheduling quirk to have the same matchup 3 times in a week

Orlando with their 4th win in a row without Banchero, last night against the Pacers. Not sure whats going on with Haliburton this year, rumors are he’s got a bad back.

And the [Blazers ] complete the back to back sweep!(Clingan, Sharpe Lead Blazers to Victory over Timberwolves - Blazer's Edge)
