2024/2025 NBA Regular Season Thread

And Portland beats them again. Last year’s worst team beats one of last year’s best twice in a row.

Well, I guess our days of watching games are pretty much over. Most of them are being shown on FanDuel, and I refuse to pay $200/yr. for the service. Some games are on other accessible channels, but most are on too late for us to bother with. So the NBA can just fuck right off.

Shai with a gorgeous move.

Does anyone care about the Emirates Cup, or whatever they call it? The in-season tournament?

The Suns announcers sure spend a lot of air time pontificating about it. I could care less.

Nice cashola for the players, but other than that, meh.

Somewhat, it’s the only way Orlando gets nationally televised games even when having a decent team.

It seems ‘forced’ and those courts are awful, but I guess it does help the NBA get attention before the traditional Christmas Day games. I’m sure the NBA knows the NFL has their eye on taking Christmas Day for their own tradition.

I just want to watch the games. I don;t care about some mosty-meaningless tournament. If the announcers would shut up, but they spend minutes disusing the possibilities of who can get in. Other than on-line gambling I can’t think of more useless and boring announcer talk. And I’ve listened to Randy Johnson take three innings to tell a one minute anecdote!

The courts really are a travesty.

How does something like this even get approved??

Paywalled.

There’s actually a T-wolves game on TNT on Thursday. Of course, it’s on at 8:30, so we’ll be face-down in our popcorn by then.

Weird, not for me. Here is the gist of it:

It wasn’t just the PS5 either, some other kid got a signed jersey that was also taken away afterwards.

I think I’ve identified the Hornet’s decision maker that did this:

Shamelessly stolen from reddit.

I asked AI if there were any teams that haven’t played on Christmas Day. Supposedly it’s the Grizzlies and the new Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets.

I sure don’t remember the Blazers being on Christmas in a long time, but it was 2018 at the Jazz.

Orlando keeps losing players and winning games. Mo Wagner out with a torn ACL, beat the defending champ Celtics.

And once again. Orlando down 17 with 7 minutes left in the 4th with the insane comeback victory over the nets. No Banchero, No Wagner brothers, no Jalen Suggs or Anthony Black.

You may not have heard about ANY of this guys.

Orlando’s Goga Bitadze used to play for my Pacers, right?

Yup. I believe they wanted him to play spot up shooter, which did not work out so they let him go for nothing.

Celtics beat the Raptors 125 - 71. That’s just embarrassing. They would have won by 9 if they scored ZERO points the entire first half. They would have won by 4 if you only counted their 3 pointers and free throws.
