Yesterday I started my truck and this error message appeared on the driver’s display “Shift System Fault-Service required” I pressed OK and the next message was “Service Vehicle Soon”.
It appears to be working fine, for a Ford anyway. A call to the dealer was not helpful.
I plan to take it in next week, but has anyone else seen this message?
Possibly just a PCM error.

Thanks for the link. I’ve put that reader on my wish list. I have an appointment at the dealer for Tuesday morning. They say several hours to run diagnostics. My wife will reluctantly pick me up so I don’t have to wait there.
I wonder if that reader can do anything with TPM sensor units so far as resetting etc.
Resetting is fruitless if there’s a genuine fault. The ECM will detect the fault again and throw the code anew.
If there’s something sincerely sub-spec, the only answer is to fix it.
You are correct. The only solution is to fix what’s causing the code. I’m just hoping it doesn’t go into a failure mode on the way to the dealer. I plan to not drive it until then.
On an unrelated subject, I wonder if there’s a way to activate the forward camera view about 7 MPH?
