According to the linked article he was having an affair with a 15 year old. So maybe 57 years too late. 
I didn’t read past the headers, but according to them, he was 21 at the time, which was 1964. When people would have done little more than raise eyebrows at a heterosexual relationship between a 21 year old and a 15 year old. But the 15 year old was another boy.
A famous 21 year old boy and a 15 year old girl would always raise red flags and bring forth a bunch of hillbilly jokes at best. Thats a college junior dating a high school sophomore. R Kelly is going to prison for just something like this.
I can’t say how fame would or wouldn’t have changed things back in 1964. But I had a close female friend in high school who was dating a guy five years older than she was, all the way through HS; they got married after her first year of college. That would have been 1972 that they got married, after having dated for ~5 years. And we weren’t talking trailer trash here; they both lived in the well-to-do neighborhood in our area.
And a HS classmate of my sister’s, when they were 16, was involved with a 30 year old guy. This was in 1976. I have no idea whether the girl’s parents knew, but among her friends in our upper middle class neighborhood it was regarded as a bit creepy maybe, but nobody thought of it in terms of legality or child molesting or any of that.
Societal attitudes about such things were very different fifty years ago. The past really is a foreign country. In the 1980s, those attitudes went through a sea change. My recollection, for what such recollections are worth, is that it started with the McMartin Preschool trial, and fairly rapidly worked its way up from there, age-wise.

Wow, I’ve had him on my list since 2017. I was hoping that he would continue to beat the odds. He lived his life as fully as he could while he lived with the terminal diagnosis. His kids had a chance to grow up enough to at least remember their dad. 
Having said all that, I will still take the points. (Editted to add, he was the last surviving member of my 2017 list. 2013 list was my only previously “complete” list)
