2022-23 Ski and Snowboard Thread - It's all downhill from here

Ouch, what a tough way to end the season. I hope you’re healing well from the accident and surgery. Which trail at Pats?

I separated my shoulder (grade 2-3) mountain biking on Easter Sunday 2022. Obviously a much less serious injury but still it was a longer recovery period than I wished for. I still have the bump on my shoulder but no surgery was needed and I’m back to all my usual activities. I had no probably skiing all of this season so I expect you’ll be back at it next year.

Thanks for the well wishes! It was on Twister.

Thanks, I sure hope so.

I had a very prominent bump on my shoulder until I got the surgery. I actually saw two shoulder orthopedic specialists and both said I absolutely needed surgery.

In the meantime I hope it’s not too many months before I can carry a day pack or go cycling. I was supposed to go on a week-long canoe trip in August, but I figure that is almost certainly off.

Killed Comet chair today. Two or three fat lines down Little Dipper, nice and packed down. Wasted a bunch of time trying to take video for a … special friend.

Tomorrow will be… Hey, I made my lines, they still gonna be there. But it’s gonna be BETTER!

Missed ya by a day! My friend badgered me and another friend to get out of work on Wednesday. Effing awesome day! We stayed on the groomed most of the time, but I was looking for you in the bump fields on both Nevada and Cali side. I futzed with the video, too, but gave-up and just focused on skiing. Conditions beyond compare!

Bridger Bowl is closed, but got 48" in 36 hours. Skinned up yesterday, and it was basically too deep to move. Anything steep enough would be deadly (IMO). I’ve never had to lean that far back. Fun to be waist deep, and good exercise.

Did a few hours yesterday. Snow wasn’t too bad, and still plenty of it. What was weird, nobody there. Skiing down huge wide-open runs without another soul in sight.

Today is the last day of the season for Mt High. We’ll do one more trip to Mammoth, probably after kids get out of school for the summer.

I’m watching the news today and the the weather lady says we could get between 6-12" overnight in the higher elevations.

Pretty close. I’d say about 4" at the Top of the Face. Powder skiing in May!
