Kmet + Everett is one of the better a two-way TE tandems you’re likely to find. I don’t know where Bowers is on Poles’ board, but he’s another pass catcher we could add. I still think the most likely outcome is a trade back at 9, but of course the draft will need to break just right.
I think he’s singlehandedly keeping the bratwurst shops in business over the winter.
And there it is.
And holy shit, we got nothing at all for him. Should have kept him at that price.
Towards the end of the season I mused that I didn’t think Fields was worth much in trade compensation, but holy smokes only a 6th in NEXT years draft??? Definitely a flier worth taking for the Steelers at that price.
Yikes. The Patriots got more from the Jaguars for Mac Jones (a 6th rounder also, but this year.)
There’s simply no way to interpret this that isn’t a massive indictment of Poles. When Sam Howell and Desmond Ridder get 2 to 3 times the value in a trade, you fucked up hard.
Again, instead of giving him away you keep him.
Fields will probably beat out Russell Wilson at some point next season.
Keeping a QB who is not that good but fans and teammates love would be a bad situation for a rookie QB.
That’s a pretty harsh fall. Drafted 11th overall 3 years ago, now traded away for a 6th round pick (next year!) to ride the bench behind a washed up has-been who is on a one-year “take a flier” deal.
I wonder how many GMs around the league are kicking themselves right now, thinking they’d be happy to have Fields as a backup for a next-year’s 6th rounder? I feel like both NY teams would have gone for that, or at least should have.
I think the problem with Fields is that he needs a particular type of offense suited to his skills to be successful at this stage in his career. And not a lot of teams outside of the Baltimore Ravens run such an offense. So his value as a backup is limited.
Maybe under a new team/new coaches he can learn to run the typical NFL offense. And given his build, arm, and running abilitu, it’s definitely worth a 4-6 rounder to find out.
I feel like Fields would be the perfect backup for Daniel Jones, who needs a miracle to stay healthy for an entire season.
I hate this narrative. If Caleb is so fragile that he can’t share a locker room with Fields, then you shouldn’t draft him. The Chicago media are going to be a hell of a lot worse after his first 3 INT game. These are professionals. If you can’t comport yourself around some competition you’re a coward and a bitch.
Supposedly the pick upgrades to a 4th only if Fields takes 51% of the snaps. I have a feeling the Steelers will make certain that that doesn’t happen.
The article I saw said that he was being brought in as Wilson’s backup. The plan is for him to not get any snaps.
We’ve seen Wilson play. This just ensures that the leash is that much longer on Wilson.
Geez, how did the 49ers get a 4th rounder for Trey Lance?
(Oh, right. Jerry Jones.)
are the raiders doing or going to do anything useful?
Their big move was resigning DI Christian Wilkins to a 4 year, $110 million dollar contract. Big payday, but Wilkins appears to bd worth it. They also picked up a new QB in Gardner Minshew while cutting Jimmy G, so there is that.
Washington got back a 3rd for Chase Young and he’s still flapping in the wind.
Patriots bolster their seriously mediocre WR corps with … K.J. Osborn, another mediocre WR. The Patriots desperately need an actual #1WR - Osborn strikes me as simply a guy. Any Vikings fans want to sell me on this guy?
Not anymore.
There’s that creative Saints accounting at work again.
