Note that Gameday has yet to not feature an SEC team this year. I can see the first three selections but Miami-Florida promises to be a dog.
From a historical perspective, the selection makes sense. This year? I think Illinois-Indiana or Oklahoma-Auburn would have been better options. In fact, I think Tulane-Ol’ Miss would have been a decent choice.
Of course, two of those three also include at least one SEC team.
I quit watching Game Day (except for the picks at the end) once they got that loudmouth on the panel. Now that Corso is gone, I skip it all-together.
Actually, my interest in the sport has gone to near zero with the teams all moving to nonsensical conferences.
The 0-2 Fighting Irish are ranked above the 3-0 Trojans.
Last year my was 3-11 in her tennis league and her UTR went up. This year she’s 7-1 and her UTR has actually gone down.
The UTR must be taking something completely unrelated into account. Like the quality of her opponents and the score in the games. Not just wins and losses. How stupid is that? Positively UnAmerican. Bloody eggheads!
And they hung more points in those 3 wins than The Crack Fox’s Christmas Tree.
It’s like actually winning games is irrelevant.
No. 19 Indiana is absolutely crushing No. 9 Illinois. A 39-point rout right now.
This is our year! Ohio State, we comin’ for you!
Hot Dog! Ranked Notre Dame finally wins a game! 4-0 Teams Rejoice!
I really hope that Michigan State guy that got clobbered by his team-mate is gonna be okay. That looked horrible. I fell asleep as soon as the game ended and haven’t heard anything since.
Best Wishes, Spartan!
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Head Coach Mike Gundy just got fired at Oklahoma State.
Well, I confess to being a little surprised, because of his success over that amount of time. I’ve seen speculation that he was reluctant to embrace the new economics of cfb but I don’t know much about the situation. Is Okie State at a financial disadvantage?
They used to have a HUGE benefactor in one of their alumni named T. Boone Pickens. Pickens contributed, in total, over $1 billion dollars to OSU. But Pickens died in 2019.
Oklahoma State used to have a healthy rivalry with the University of Oklahoma, which always generated a significant amount of national interest and certainly helped with recruiting. But OU is now in the SEC, so that’s gone as well.
Even so, as recently as 2023 OSU was 10-4 and defeated Texas A&M in a bowl game. But last season the wheels came off as they lost their last nine games to finish 3-9. And last Saturday, a loss to Tulsa was evidently the final straw. Tulsa hadn’t beaten Okie State since 1998, but, more importantly, the win was the first for Tulsa in Stillwater since 1951.
Why they went downhill so quickly is obviously open to speculation, but IMO it was because Gundy had lost most of the regional recruiting battles and couldn’t figure out how to use the transfer portal to his advantage.
Don’t shed a tear for him, however. His buyout is 15 million bucks.
It’s a moot point because Ohio State can afford to buy an entire team of studs. It looks like they’ll be in the top 5 pretty much forever.
In my post, OSU referred to Oklahoma State University, which was made evident in the sentence that immediately followed the one you quoted.
The way the Virginia fans stormed the field in a split second after the Cavaliers upset No. 8 Florida State……most frightening ant-swarm imitation ever seen. 19 injuries.
No. 17 Alabama pulls off the upset win over No. 5 Georgia.
#3 Penn St vs #6 Oregon was one heckuva game. Oregon wins in double OT.
Right now, both unranked UCLA and Florida appear on their way to pulling off big upsets against No. 7 Penn State and No. 9 Texas.
And they do so. Before today, UCLA had not led at any point in any game thus far this season.
