I don’t know that show. But he was a national CBS anchor for a while, and prominent in Chicago as an anchor. He has also been the producer of other news shows. On June 8, 1966, he was a law student at Washburn University in Topeka and was filling in for a friend as a news announcer on WIBW. A horrific tornado struck the city and his calm on air demeanor brought him to the attention of the network. In later years, when interviewed about that night, he said he had wondered how to impress on viewers how very serious this was. Do I cry, do I shout, do I cuss? His memorable words, “For God’s sake, take cover!” is credited with saving many lives.
