2025 SDMB Celebrity Death Pool

You can always post it anyway and see how you would have fared. But you won’t be eligible for any awards.

Do you have a statistic at hand showing how well the top-thirteen-list performed last year?

Steve DiMeglio, a journalist who worked for a Golf Publication, passed away frokm Rectal Cancer but it is unclear whether it was Dec 31 or Jan 1

Four out of the top thirteen passed in 2024. Bob Newhart, with 14 picks, Jonnie Irwin, with 18, Jimmy Carter, also with 18, and of course, Shannon Doherty, with 60.

oops, misread the numbers

So 113 points for the wisdom of the masses , or 16th place I think .

I’m getting 103 points: 50 for Irwin, 47 for Doherty, 6 for Newhart, and 0 for Carter.

Still 16th place, though.

Yeah I fat fingered, absolutely did not fail to do simple arithmetic at all, no sir .

Thanks for the information and all the other work too! It looks like the masses were wiser than me, damn it. The only thing they will never get is a unique pick.

That is a sad one to start:

And a pointless death with ten olympic medals - five gold, three silver and two bronze medals in total:

Wayne Osmond of The Osmonds has died at 73.

I figured Merrill or Alan would have passed first out of the Osmonds.

I would have guessed Jermaine. But I don’t remember sixties pop bands very well.

Silly person. Jermaine was a Partridge.

World’s oldest person dies. Nobody had her, but judging by her picture she looked pretty goold.

Just 7 days before her 104th birthday Agnes Keleti, Hungarian Jewish Olympic gymnast who wasn’t allowed to compete in the 1940 Olympics and had to hide during the Holocaust and subsequently won 10 medals in 1952 and 1956, died after being hospitalized for pneumonia.
Agnes Keleti

Told you so  Two days ago.

Jeff Baena, indie filmmaker, 47 years old.

oh heck, guess I missed that. Just saw it on my News feed this morning. Thought it was very interesting.

Thanks for not being snarky about it. :hugs:
