21-year-old fratboy Superdelegate; the statue of liberty is kaput, democracy is dead

And how old are you, my dear? I don’t picture you over 30.

Expressing vehement and unpopular opinions is not equivalent to trolling.

If I may digress a moment, that “Man from the movies” is probably the most remarkable, successful (goalwise, not financially…though he ain’t done bad there either) and accomplished person in this country:

He landed in America with $20 bucks in his pocket and could barely speak the language.

In addition to working out 8 hours a day, he started a bricklaying business with fellow bodybuilder Franco Colombu. He also began another business selling diet supplements by mail.

He parlayed his profits from those ventures and his numerous Mr. Universe titles into real estate investments which made him a millionaire before he ever made a movie and before most people had even heard of him.

He then became the number one movie star in the world, despite his accent, clumsy-sounding name and Republican political philosophy.

He met, dazzled and married a beautiful Kennedy woman! A passionate Democrat from the most famous and dedicated family of Democrats in the country (and they all seem to like him, too).

He then made tons more movies (usually being involved in the business and promotional side as well); tons more investments in real estate (among other ventures); and tons more money.

He then won election (in his very first run for office) to the governorship of a state sufficient enough in size economically to be the eighth largest country in the world if it were a stand-alone country. He donates his salary to charity.

And he’s a damn fine job by most measures (despite a couple of missteps early on as alluded to earlier) and was rewarded by the population of California (complex, diverse and sophisticated - despite your characterization of them as ignorant hicks) with another term in office, whereby he is currently dealing quite effectively with a severe budget shortfall caused by depressed real estate values.

In short, I can’t think of a single person who started with so little and has overcome and accomplished so much (and had/is having a ball doing it at the same time).

It wouldn’t surprise me if he actually becomes president someday, despite the difficulty of getting the required constitutional amendment ratified. Based on his record of extremely unlikely accomplishments, if anyone could pull it off he could.

You should be half as smart as that “man from the movies”.

Man crush!

21 is too young?

At what age would the Founding Fathers have selected him to represent us in the Revolutionary War?

At what age would we have selected him to represent us in the Battle of Antietam? [scroll to the very bottom]

At what age would we have selected him to represent us on Omaha Beach?

Sailboat

No, but posting stuff you just made up solely to get a reaction is. Or do you honestly believe someone could get so worked up over words on a message board that:

Gimme a fucking break.

Golly! Despite his Republican political philosophy? My goodness.

I think Q.E.D. got it, though I myself would unsert a ‘u’:

“Bububububububububububub”

I pride myself on such nuances that have made me a champion. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, he WAS talking about the movie industry and Southern California, both of which are stereotyped as somewhat liberal-leaning…

Unpopular opinions aside, in this thread you’re showing every sign of being a jerk. I’ll remind you that there have been posters who made very good contributions to the board who nevertheless wound up being banned for being jerks.

I don’t understand. How is that different that listening to Keyboard Face?

This whole thing is nonsensical. Keyboard Face is upset because 21-year-old college students are often drunken and short-sighted fools, but the existence of one who appears politically savvy, informed, and active is cause for scorn? This doesn’t follow. Anyway, neither that article nor the Wikipedia one lists him as being in a fraternity.

Actually, yes I DO think someone could get that upset…there are a lot of loony people out there. I think that he has been more honest about who he is than most people around here.

Sure. But the number one rule of Hollywood is, “Can you make me some money?”

Amazingly, it would be in this increasingly-bizarre thread that I finally find common ground with the esteemed Starving Artist.

I disagree with the majority of Gov. Schwarzenegger of California’s political stances, agree with some fw of them, but have never been able to understand the derision attendant on his running for political office. In addition to the credentials which S.A. mentioned, it is very much worth noting that he became involved in the California Republican Party at the precinct level 20 years before announcing his candidacy, giving not only money (which many movie stars do) but his own time to do the hard and unrecognized work of making political campaigns successful, getting the vote out in support of his party’s candidates.

If any celebrity has ever earned his party’s endorsement for public office by serious political work – as opposed to feel-good activist posturing – it would be Arnold Schwarzenegger.

And if he does get that amendment and run for President, I’ll vote against him – because I disagree with his stances. But I’ll do it with a lot of respect for the man, nonetheless.

Better idea: Let’s keep you and give IUSEDTOBEVC03BUTTHATWAS TOOEASYTOREMEMBER the fucking break.

As opposed to RandomLetters:stuck_out_tongue:

Ooh, that John McEnroe quip really cuts me to the quick.

I cannot act as though you are a troll? I’m not sure what that means, though I certainly can and will report your posts if they appear to be violations of board rules. If this was any other forum than the Pit, I would have reported you for this thread.

If I was a wealthy guy, I would have paid you the $5k to get rid of you as a service to the other members. I could probably have you killed for even less, but I find that solution morally unacceptable if emotionally satisfying to a certain degree. So you may go on, until you eventually shit on the carpet in some other forum and get yourself banned.

I think TL… is one of the more interesting posters here, but this one’s been off the tracks from the beginning.

It would be much worse if all the superdelegates were old Daniel Schorr*-type dudes.

*when is that guy gonna do us all a favor and die?

I’d rather have someone like him than you in charge.

(Gee, a young individual actually takes an active part in what’s going on in his country, and he’s somehow an “idiot?”)

After I learned that teenager’s brains aren’t fully developed in the area of decision making I regret that those under 21 who initiated Obamamania ever got the franchise. Its a fucking gamble with no real consideration for the consequences but it sure as hell is exciting. Party on and fuck the hangover!!!
