I had no idea there was such variety. Truly MPSIMS but a neat (and free) way to make your footwear more fun. Kind of interesting actually.
That is kinda cool.
What?, did you forget how to tie your shoes and had to hit up google for some tips?
If all Dopers adopt hash lacing we will be able to spot one another.
My eyesight isn’t that good, plus the ‘curvature of the earth’ thing.
Perhaps I am just bored but that is cool.
I hate to admit this but, a long time ago in a youth far far away, I was on an JrROTC rifle drill team. We must’ve tried about half of the 2 trillion combinations to lace our boots with white laces prior to every competition. That website sure brought back some memories.
Thank you, thank you!!
I just relaced my Jump Boots! I saw some old jump boots in the infantry museum at Benning a few years ago. That had a distinct lacing that I couldn’t quite figure out from staring at them. I had an idea, but I wasn’t 100% on how to do it. And at the time, I wasn’t even Airborne qualified yet. Hell, I didn’t even get my first pair of jump boots until almost a full year later, so by then I had no idea how those boots were laced. I just remembered they were different.
Anyway, I’ve kinda always wanted to lace my Class A boots in the traditional WWII style, and now I know how it was done.
Thank you so much!!
From a link in the shoelace page this other guy has apparenlty patented a shoelacing process. :dubious:
What will he do if he sees someone using that lacing system on the street, sue them? “That’s my lacing system! Pay up!”
Okay, I’ve changed the laces on one pair of shoes, and I’m happy. It’s nice to have a rating system that includes if the pattern will leave you with more or less lace at your ankle.
I did my left Adidas Samba in lattice, the right in ladder, both in light pink laces; my ProKed brown leather sneaks in double helix; and my Asics Onitsuka Tigers in double back in contrasting color for maximum effect. Thanks for the link, astro!
I notice they don’t mention variations used on footwear that has hooks at the top for the lacing. I’ve found the over under lacing variations works pretty well for them though.
Charming link. I like his aglet repair page.
Just this weekend, for no real reason, I thought I’d try the “Straight Lacing” on a pair of old Pumas.
I did the “fashion” one. It was the only way I figured out how to do it.
Wow, that is kinda neat. This is exactly the kind of thing I love the SDMB for. The same site also goes into knots, as well!
Upon closer inspection, I’m wearing loafers.
But I’ve bookmarked the site to show to the youngsters in my family who wear bright laces on their shoes. They’ll love it.
Great find, astro!
