$234,016

Last time I checked, this was the yearly salary of the Sheriff of Los Angeles County. I’ve been having trouble finding out how the position of sheriff became the highest paying elected post in the United States. What rational did the the County Board of Supervisors (or whoever) use to decide he should be paid so much? Were they afraid qualified law enforcement personel wouldn’t run for the position if they didn’t offer such lucrative compensation?

(I’ll bet LA County could get about 20 Andy Taylors for that price.)

Is that an elected or hired post ?

Still trying to figure out how Sherriff Block slippnig and dying in his home shower is ‘work-related’, netting his widow the full 234k per yr.

Excuse the brain fart, carry on without me.

Our city pays $610 + 10% of base salaryfor medical benefits in cash. Wonder if that includes benefits for the sheriff?
