GR is fairly progressive, for west MI- Mike Sak and Robert Dean are both Dems in the State Leg from GR. But there is still quite a ways to go before it is truly progressive.
Living in the heart of West Michigan Suburbia, the yard signs for this group are almost as commonplace as the McCain signs. I wasn’t at all surprised about it, once I figured out what the signs said. And I’ve yet to see a sign that supports the proposal at all. sigh
Like MI has the money to spend, oh yeah.
WTF good would it do if passed? Just sit there and do nothing as in other states.

well, given that its an amendment, it provides people looking to do research with a guarantee that the rug won’t be pulled out from under them after they’ve already set up shop.
What does Michigan’s financial situation have to do with anything? No one’s expecting a massive Stem Cell Research project to begin immediately after this passes(if it does). Are you so short sighted as to think the money will never be there?
Actually, if done well, this could be a giant boon for the state, drawing in lots of high-tech researchers and research money. Even just your average corporate taxes could make the state a killing if it takes off.
Well yeah, that’s the hope. I was sort of dealing with a worst case scenario and why, even then, this doesn’t cost the state money.
