Yeah, I know… strange bedfellows.
To use Mr. Mencia’s own parlance, that ad was pretty der-der-der.
The Snickers ad!
So far, the only one I’ve liked is the FedEx one (even though they got the physics wrong).
Well, over the past two years, FedEx’s ads have told us that a)cavemen and dinosaurs lived at the same time and b)bears can sing, dance, and enjoy Burt Reynolds movies. So you can’t really trust them for things other than package delivery.
State Farm presents the Pro Bowl! Like a good neighbor, State Farm invites you to an unimportant event nobody cares about!
I’m so used to tuning out commercials that I’ve missed most of these.
All I watch are the commercials. Rumor has it that Apple’s going to have a big ad during the game.
I know. Nobody enjoys Burt Reynolds movies.
It seems like the commercials have gone down in quality since the dot.com bust. There were a lot of really odd, innovative ones made during the dot.com boom, say around 1998, 1999.
I chuckled. They were feuding for a few years, weren’t they?
I liked the Blockbuster mouse. Is that the first ad ever where a mouse was used as a mouse?
That’s a good point. Things haven’t just been the same ever since they sent the E*Trade monkey into outer space. I guess they didn’t have money coming out the wazoo.
Go Daddy!
Do they really exist?
Sort of. Dave kept having this routine on his show about how he wanted to be a guest on hers. It was, at least on Dave’s side, obviously tongue-in-cheek.
Egads. It’s that absolutely stupid Coke ad they’ve foisted on us in movie theaters.
Oh, nice to see the Coca-Cola GTA-style guy becomes nice ad again.
Yes they do. My friend has a website from them. Was Verne Troyer the hip little person in that ad?
Go Daddy: dumb, dumb, dumb.
Coca Cola: I guess I would get more out of it if I actually played GTA. I laughed at the end, though.
Yep. They took a tour of our data center awhile back, looking for a place to babysit their servers.
Bolding mine.
That irritated me about this commercial. I didn’t find it funny for that very reason.
Just saw the Coke commercial (video game). Gotta admit, I kinda like it for the feel good message.
But I’m voting Doritos #1 so far.
Why do they insist on interrupting the commercials with this silly football game?
CBS had a “Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials” special with a few previews of upcoming spots. CBS said Doritos was still deliberating which ad to use at airtime, and showed one which ended up not being used (presumbaly) that I thought was funnier: a gentleman uses a Dorito on a mousetrap. As he bites into his bag of Doritos while waiting, a person in a mouse costume breaks out of the wall and tackles him.
I like this. It reminds me of the old joke “I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.” Can I use it in my sig for a month or so?
I guess I haven’t been to the theaters as much as I thought. I haven’t seen that one in the theaters, but my daughter may have as she saw a film in a theater not too long ago.
