2nd Gordon Ramsey Chef commits suicide!

[Warning: Gordon Ramsey may be dangerous to your mental health and lead to suicide

The GWB is about 30 minutes from my house.

ETA: Rachel Brown, 41, shot herself in her family’s Dallas home a year after appearing on 2006’s Hell’s Kitchen.

That’s a shame. I remember that episode and Cerniglia seemed like a nice guy, even if a bit clueless as a businessman. He didn’t seem too offended overall by Ramsay’s “rough” teaching methods, but rather seemed grateful for the help and much-needed advice. They did a “revisit” episode that did a segement on Campania, his restaurant, a year after Ramsay’s visit. Cerniglia and his family and co-workers said that business had improved since then, and he showed that he’d taken Ramsay’s advice to improve his inventory management. He reported being able to pay his bills on time, as opposed to a year before. Ramsay complimented the food.

Considering it’s been over three years since Ramsay’s initial visit, and over two years since the revisit, and the fact that he and Ramsay seemed to have a positive relationship, I doubt it had a direct role in his suicide.

Ehh. Any corellation would IMHO have a lot to do with the self-selecting nature of people who are so hungry for attention that they’re willing to line up to be (quite possibly) ridiculed on national television just for the sake of being on television. So working with Gordon Ramsay may be the effect, not the cause, of some emotional instability.

This restaurant is one block from the house I grew up in, and I’ve dined there once or twice, it was a decent eatery. Such a shame, to leave his wife alone with 3 kids.

In fairness… These business were already shot. The owners were facing bankruptcy.

Bringing Gordon in was a last ditch effort to save the business. There’s always a chance that exposure on the tv show will bring in new customers.

The decision to kill themselves wasn’t Gordon or the shows fault. They’ve helped quite a few restaurants get new business…

Whoa… I play tennis underneath the GWB all the time, and I was actually going to play today. The only thing that stopped me was the crappy weather. Yikes.

I’m very sad to hear this about any business owner. It more than likey doesn’t have anything to do with Gordon Ramsay. I cannot imagine owning a restaurant in this business climate. I wish he’d found a way to reach out before making this choice. My heart goes out to his wife and kids.

The recession of the last couple years has probably made it a hard time to be a restaurant owner. I wouldn’t be surprised if suicide rates among restaurant owners in general are up these days. The recession probably had more to do with this than anything Gordon Ramsay said or did.

Gordon Ramsay himself faced some financial difficulties last year. It’s not an easy time to be running a high-end restaurant.
