The “hole” was the shade of my hanging lamp and the “guinea pig” a CFL bulb.
Many years ago, I awoke to something similar - a large hole in the wall with shadowy people in it peering out at me!!
It was my U2 Joshua Tree poster. After a couple of these incidents I moved the poster. My half asleep brain was obviously incapable of interpreting the poster correctly.
A friend of ours was temporarily storing a full-sized cardboard cutout of Frankenstein’s monster at our house. That will startle you when getting up in the middle of the night to check on the bathroom!
You Dopers out there who worry about such things will please note that I wrote “Frankenstein’s monster”, not “Frankenstein”.
I must admit, this is the funniest thread title I’ve read in a while.
