A few less Hummers on the road can’t be a bad thing.
Great pictures!
It warms my heart to see this finally happening.
Don’t get too excited. The Hummer H3 is coming out and is destined to be a best seller. Even though it is smaller and more fuel efficient than its big brother, I imagine that many people will people will get pissed off at those just because their mind now associated Hummer = Evil.
Not bad enough. I’d rather see eight bucks a gallon.
I agree with the need to raise US prices enough to actually impact demand. But it irritates the living shit out of me when gas hits $3 per gallon (with all the requisite excuses regarding Katrina, Iraq, etc.), then we hear that Exxon Mobil has their “largest quarterly profit ever” (cite ).
See, that’s the thing. We could have been paying $3/gal for the last 10 or so years if gas was taxed, and having the extra money going into decent mass transit so we have an alternative to driving. Instead, we have the extra money going to the oil companies. I understand that the oil companies deserve that profit, but they certainly won’t put that towards mass transit but towards more oil production. None of it goes towards providing an alternative to driving.
Agreed.
Here in the U.K. it’s 90p (US$1.50?) per litre.
