Are you under the impression that the electoral college is the only thing getting in the way of a true Democracy?

In today’s up-to-the-nanosecond information exchange, are you under the impression that the electoral college is assistive to true democracy?

And if the Michigan and Florida delegates are seated according to the original results, McCain will beat Clinton in November easily, because those primaries were loads of shit and everybody knows it. It is beyond absurd to say “Okay, you can vote, but it doesn’t count. Wait, now it does, never mind!” You cannot have a race with only one contestant and have that outcome apply to the larger setting.

I know, it’s as screwy as screwy gets, but either way we’re, uh, screwed.

Are you under the impression that I said, or implied, such a thing? In fact, that has nothing to do with the point I am making.
The reason it isn’t “assistive” to a “true democracy” is largely due to the fact that no one intended for the US to be a true democracy. There are other aspects of our government that are much, MUCH less assistive to true democracy than the electoral college.
It’s even worse in Texas. A McCain supporter who wants to game the system can vote for Hillary in the Primary, then Caucus fervently for Obama so as to be selected as delegate. When it comes time to cast the vote, they could conveniently change minds to Hillary, thereby nullifying a large number of neighborhood votes.

Yes, but very few as divisive, especially of late.

Uh, that’s the lamest bullshit to highest degree. Just because a couple of Americans are on the ramparts about changing the EC doesn’t mean shit about it’s effectiveness or fairness, though this probably says a lot about your ability to be objective.

The entire notion that a significant number of republicans obeyed the bidding of their talk radio overlords is crazy, IMHO. There is no proof that this happened, it sounds like the opposite was true.
If talk radio had any effect on the behavior of non-insane republicans, Romney would be the nominee.

Talk radio has always been at its most effective when focusing wingnuts’ ire on the True Enemy: liberals and Democrats.
