More photos here.

Thank you for posting that Johnny!

Seconding the thanks, Johnny. Neat!

Absolutely fascinating. Thanks.

Love the Welcome Home Well Done sign on the boat. If we had done that after WW II ------------

¡De nada!

B&W film is so much more stable and easy to work with. I’m not surprised the film from the mid 1940’s came out so well. I’m glad someone is saving this history.

I wonder how much film he finds of boring stuff? Photos of nameless and long deceased people sitting at a dinner table or on the sofa. Kids birthday partys. Someone elses family photos they never got around to developing.

thanks for the link.

100-Year-Old Box Of Negatives Discovered Frozen In Block Of Antarctica’s Ice

This reminds me of a documentary I just watched earlier this evening, “Finding Vivian Maier - Wikipedia”. Vivian was a nanny in Chicago for some 20 years. Her hobbies included photography, and after her death a collector got hold of 100,000 of her negatives – most had never been printed, and she never showed them to anyone, as far as is known.

And her pics are stunning

Her qualifications as a nanny were apparently a little iffy. For instance, one of “her” kids was hit by a car, and she shot the scene like a photo journalist as opposed to, say, calling for help.

She staged it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Fantastic.

Possibly by throwing the kid in front of the car. :stuck_out_tongue:

The WWII photos were amazing, and the Vivian Maier photos show a side of NYC that isn’t there any more - real people and poverty - as opposed to how it seems to be a playground for the rich and tourists nowadays…

Congrats, Johnny, on 50k posts!

How’d that happen? :smack:

I was going to come up with a sneaky way of posting a 50,000th post thread that wouldn’t be shut down right away, but the post just snuck up on me! (That’s what I get for not paying attention. )

Thanks, Gatopescado!

(OK, now where’s my roast goat, calamari, and 50K cake? :dubious: )
