4.0 DOHC V8 Ford/Jaguar

I’ve seen a certain V8 in Mustang Cobras, as well as certain Lincolns.

I’ve also seen a very similar engine in a Jaguar.

Dual Overhead camshafts, 4 liter displacements, Bundle-o-snakes intake manifolds, and of course Jaguar is owned by Ford.

Is the Ford V8 and the Jag V8 in fact the same engine?

Well, Ford does own Jaguar so it is likely that the same engine is being used in both cars. There may be some minor tuning differences, though.

The Jaguar S-type shares some mechanical bits with the Lincoln LS and the Ford Thunderbird.

Grab an issue of a car magazine (like Car & Driver) with a review of one of the cars and that’ll tell you for certain, but I’m 99% positive that the engines are the same. The differences in the two engines would be entirely in the electronic controls. IIRC, the Ford Contour and one of the new Jags are the same car, with the Jag getting different trim, options, interior and price tag than the Ford.

A Jag Under The Hood

That would be the Jaguar X Type.
