40-year-old cat?

Lucy the Welsh tabby may just have turned 40, a first for a domestic fuzzbutt.

She had a measure of fame last year when she (may have!) turned 39, which, if verified, would have made her the longest-lived kitty ever.

Well the previous record was age 38 (for two different cats), so it’s not so much of a stretch.

Wow, Lucy doesn’t look a day over 25. I’m saying that tongue-in-cheek, but serious, too.

That’s a damn good-lookin’ cat. My old childhood cat just turned the other side of 20, and he’s looking like a little gray old man.

Mrs. Slocombe: “My pussy don’t look a day over 20! Everyone wants to see it. Why, the BBC was takin’ *photos *the other day.”

You owe me a new keyboard and mouse. You have been served!

That 39 year old cat looks similar to my 4 year old cat.

“The Americans want to come over here and film her. . .”

I just love this. It’s as if it were a congressional mandate or something. He could have gotten a call from Stephen Speilberg or the editor of the East BuFu, Idaho high school newspaper.

I’m not really doubting it because they seem to have researched it, but really? An elderly aunt can look at a cat and say definitively, “that’s the kitten I saw in 1972.”

This is why I think it’s BS. They assume no two cats ever looked similar. Why I have a black cat and once in 1980 I saw a black kitten. OMG my cat is 32 years old.
