What holiday is it?
Probably the celebration of the founding of the state (May 14, 1948).
The end of last week was first Remembrance Day (Yom HaZikaron), honoring those fallen in defense of Israel, and then the following day was Israeli Independence Day (Yom HaAtzmaut).
Note that the Israeli Memorial Day and Independence Day are calculated by their date on the Jewish calendar, so while they’ll always be around now (this is actually about as late as they get relative to the secular calendar), they won’t be on the exact same dates next year.
Memorial Day is a massive deal in Israel - it’s very somber and widely observed, unlike the American Memorial Day, which is an excuse for wearing white shoes and shopping for discounted cars.
Thank you all for the answers.
There was absolutely no reason for an Israeli office to be closed this week! (I should know – I’m typoing from work :()
Memorial Day + Independence Day were last week and are long gone and hard to find…
I have no idea whatsoever why your Israeli branch took this week off… but it isn’t because of a holiday. Could you divulge which company this is? Maybe I can find out for you… Or email me (address in profile) if you prefer.

And http://www.earthcalendar.net/ agrees that neither Israeli state nor Jewish religion observes any holidays this week. So there must be something else in it.

Is that self-referential or what? :smack:
