50% chance of a extinction - level event in 2041?

http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1137095

Wow!
I’ll be 81 - good chance I’ll still be around to watch the End of Civilization as We Know It.

I’ll be 84. Get off of my lawn!

March 35th, 2041? I didn’t know we were changing our calendar again; I thought that was straightened out.

March 35 on the Mayan calender. Duh!

Why most such a crappy article? It isn’t April 1st.

That link is to a garbage site and the article full of silly mistakes.

Figures. The Saints will probably have the #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft that year, and the world will end before we get to use it.

Yeah March 35. It didn’t look like The Onion.

I don’t believe anyone could quote odds like that 27 years in advance. Not my problem since I would be 104.

Note that it says on the left side of the page, “Not vetted for CNN.” It’s CNN iReport, which lets any person publish stuff without any verification.

Good news! I can stop recycling and just throw all my trash in the trash can. I don’t have to buy those expensive light bulbs and I can just drive where I’m going instead freezing outside for what seems like hours while I wait for a bus. Half hour showers and I can now wash my laundry on hot again! And I can just get plastic bags at the grocery store instead of having to lug these stupid cloth bags around with me wherever I go in case I need to go shopping.

This is good news indeed.

What is everyone else going to do to celebrate?

Is that the day the 32-bit date fields overflow?

Always knew the appearance of Justin was a harbinger of the apocalypse. I knew it, I just knew it, I tells ya!

Funny that the news isn’t plastered all over NASA’s Asteroidwatch web page. The nearest I can come is http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/asteroidwatch/newsfeatures.cfm?release=2014-106 and that’s not even the same year.

Maybe we will have a March 35th by then. After all, people in the stone age thought planes would never fly.

The iReport linked to in the OP has been removed by CNN. They have some standards after all.

Since CNN has taken down the report referred to in the OP, I’m going to close this.
