50th anniversay of the murders of eight student nurses

Today is the 50th anniversary of the day when Richard Speck tortured, raped and murdered eight student nurses in Chicago. I remember when it happened, and it was horrifying how he hunted them down, one by one, and snuffed out their lives.

I know one phrase of Filipino. “Masakit” means “It hurts”

The reason I know this one phrase is due to the impression those murders made when, as an eleven year old child that year, I was reading about them. A couple of the nurses who were killed were Filipino, and the one nurse who was able to hide said, in an article I read, that she heard those words from one of the women who died.

By then I was reading more than kid’s books I guess.:frowning:
