555-pound teenager on the loose! (Has since been captured)

Story

Yeah, yeah, I know it’s actually really sad. But I got a chuckle out of some of the comments on this story.

Oh, those hilarious fat people.

When will they ever learn?

couldn’t wait for the link to come up, but it reminds me of a sad story in the Bay Area from the late 90’s- a 680 pound 13-yo girl who was found dead. Apparently she had gained something like 200 pounds in the last year of her life. Unable to find clothes, she was found wrapped in bedsheets on the living room floor, in her own filth and food detritus. A few years before, she transferred out of a school because she couldn’t handle the slight grade from the bus drop-off to the building. Her mother wound up in jail.

I liked the Fark headline for this: “Police found him by looking in any direction.”

Yeah. I was thinking that too. I mean, how the hell could you lose a 555 pound teenager?

He was hiding behind Walter Hudson’s tomb.

Holy crap. I just read that Wiki article you referenced on his daily diet and almost threw up. Yeah, I bet his tomb would have been big!!

22B in hexadecimal.

/Obscure?

I think I remember that one – I wish I could find it, but I wouldn’t know what to google.

Here you go.

(I Googled “bay area 680 pound girl”. Funnily enough, this thread was the first hit.)

Thanks. That was absolutely horrid. (And the whole “fat acceptance” protests were absolutely appalling. Hello, the girl died in her own shit and had insects feeding on her flesh!)

You gotta eat healthy, people! snicker

The only thing missing from the original article was the statement that the kid’s mother was a deadbeat. Now that would be a conundrum.

I remember my father telling me about some of the home removals he’s had to do of obese corpses. There was one body where they had to break the doorway of his bedroom open (600 lbs), and another where they actually had to get a CRANE to remove the guy through his upstairs window. (800 lbs).

Just in case anyone missed it, a follow-up to this story indicated that the mother was sentenced to three years probation and 240 hours community service.

As a person of size myself, I have only this to say…
Hey hey hey!

No, Snickers are not “eating healthy”. One Snickers bar has 20% of your daily saturated fat allowance.

Eating 20 Snickers bars a day is, however, worse.

I think you inadvertently slipped a comma into this sentence.
