I throroughly enjoy the song, but I have no idea what, if anything, it’s trying to say. Help please.
I got a vague idea of “I’ve been through what you’re going through now,” but I am also confused. Twenty years from now, we’ll probably learn it was about Tutenkamen or Joe Lieberman.
Not quite 20 years but…
According to Wiki:
“The lyrics are based on Dylan’s own experiences while living in New York City, in particular the story of a homeless man who would sit outside Dylan’s window and play the same songs every day. One day, the man was gone, but his things were still there, until gradually people started taking them.”
My truck only has one headlight.
The days of people loudly condemning any use of Wikipedia are long gone, aren’t they?
Kind of like the OP
But can you drive it home?
I am not sharp today. I was conflating the OP with Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.
mmm
Yeah, if you pay attention to the lyrics of the song the meaning is pretty straightforward. If the OP is mystified by Jakob Dylan’s lyrics, they better not listen to his dad’s.
