Kind of a funny story. My hubby and I went out to eat once. By the time the check came, we realized that we had enough money to pay for the meal, but not enough for the tip (we didn’t have a credit card at the time). We explained it to the waitress and asked if we could write her a personal check. She was so nice about it. She said most people would have just stiffed her in that situation. I just couldn’t bring myself to do that to a waitress, and this one had been an exceptionally good server.
Good for you jeanne!
Yours truly,
aha
Once I was eating out with my mom and a friend at a small café here on Sanibel. We had an extremely bitchy waitress, who sneered at us and was condesending and so on. The last straw came when my mom asked to see the dessert menu. As the waitress was leaving, she said to the hostess under her breath, “She saw it last week!”
Yeah, and I bet you saw a tip last week, didn’t you, bitch? Guess you don’t need another one. We left leaving either no or a very small tip, and we also talked to the manager about her behavior. We’re happy to say that we ate there the other night for the first time in quite a while, and she was not there. The service this time was nice.

“All right. Have it your own way. Road to hell paved with unbought stuffed dogs. Not my fault.”
If got such poor service, Opal, I’d not only leave a small tip, I’d talk to management. That’s not poor service, that’s downright rude.
