When I was 27, I couldn’t wait to turn 28. Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison - all died when they were 27. Not that I was truly at risk of losing my life in some way, but it still worried me. Some consider those four to have been “genius”, so… 
(Anybody know of any other acclaimed persons - in any fields - who happened to pass away at the age of 27.)

Jonathan Brandis (actor), Spectacular Bid (racehorse who nearly won the Triple Crown), Keiko (the whale who played Willy), Pat Tillman, John Wilkes Booth, Mikhail Lermontov (Russian romantic poet/author), Jean-Michel Basquiat (artist), Jesse Belvin (wrote the Bobby Darrin song Earth Angel), Andrew Cunanan (the guy who murdered Gianni Versace- don’t know if he counts as an “acclaimed person”), Andres Escobar (the Columbian footballer who was shot for scoring an own goal in the World Cup), Brian Jones (founding member of the Stones), Pigpen McKernan (founding member of the Dead), Thuy Trang (the Yellow Ranger in the US/Europe version of the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers- I couldn’t not include her)… and that’s all I got.
Nothing like a happy send-off, eh?
