70's Rock Song : "Itchigoo Park"?

Fresh Air ( but not Terry Gross ) was interviewing former Small Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan a few years back and the first song NPR had lined up was of course “Itchycoo Park”, probably their most recognizable song. So he asks Ian McLagan about it and the down to earth and very direct McLagan says he actually hates the song and utterly refused to play it as a condition of doing one of the reunion tours. The interviewer ( probably Dave Davies ) seemed flustered, embarrassed and completely caught off guard. A great interview moment :D.

I saw them on a reunion tour in the mid/late 70s, and I’m pretty sure they played it… Years later when I read the book All the Rage (Ian McLagan’s autobiography) I discovered that Marriott had suffered a heart attack back at their hotel after the gig.
