Has anyone else heard this story? I did, and then it kinda sorta disappeared which has me wondering even more about what might really be going on. I mean, 71 girls on a school field trip makes sense, but it’s not normal for girls that age to go exploring tunnels, especially en masse like that, and while the footage here is fuzzied, it appears they were clean.
I don’t get what’s puzzling about it? Bunch of kids find a tunnel on a field trip, explore it, and climb up a ladder which ends up behind a restaurant. It’s weird, but what more needs to be explained?
Well, either the adults who were guiding the field trip just let them do it, or there weren’t any adults guiding it. Either one implies that something went wrong.
Nyack in Rockland County is not in NYC.
It’s an outer suburb of NYC, over an hour to Manhattan. There are several towns with large populations of Orthodox Jews, easily recognized by the girls’ longer skirts and the boys’ prayer curls.
Regarding the antisemitism, I’ve heard people who live there complain about the Orthodox groups not fitting in with “suburban quality of life”, not paying taxes, running overcrowded unregulated schools. Apart from that, I don’t know much about the situation and have no idea whether the complaints are at all valid.
