727 at Dupage Airport?

Visiting Chicago, we were just on 64 near the DuPage airport. My brother thought he recalled a 727 landing there a few years back. Said it sat there for quite a while. Anyone know more about this?

Googling produced this article.

Summary: 727 was donated in 2002 by American Airlines to be used in training aviation mechanics. But the plane was too large for any existing hangar, so sat outside and came to be regarded as an eyesore. It was flown away in 2003 - to somewhere.

This site includes a photo.

The 727’s registration was N848AA. This page suggests that after departing Dupage it went to Jatayu Airlines of Indonesia.

This photo of it at Dupage may help explain why it became unwelcome there.

Why? The most beautiful airliner (IMHO), and in fine shape. Do you mean that it looks like it’s taking off or crash-landing, and do might have momentarily startled someone driving on a nearby road?

Looks neglected and tacky.
