8 UN workers killed, as Afghans protest US pastor's Quran-burning - Hope Pastor Jones is happy now

Making you approximately the five hundredth poster who doesn’t give half a shit about the fact that this was never about burning the Qur’an in the first place.

Nope. I guess insulting those ragheads is a higher priority than worrying in the slightest about what the actual situation was.

Between this thread, the thread where some GOP operative got away with claiming that an FDA initiative launched under a GOP administration was the fault of the Dems, and that racism thread, I’m starting to get a very complete picture of what this community is like.

When have we ever tried to “appease” them?

I know it’s a radical concept, but maybe it’s time we turn this from “don’t do that or the fanatics will explode” to “the fanatics learning that if they get out of line, we’ll explode”
Of course that would only work for people able to get a grasp on reality and the concept that THEIR actions have consequences.

Uh huh.

You are absolutely right; let’s rise up in righteous fury and obliterate each and every one of the barbarians. And when that is done, let’s rise up in fury and obliterate each and every one of the barbarous Christians who attempt to impose their points of view on us, the truly secular citizens of the USA. Let’s obliterate each and every politician who attempts to bring a god (any god) into a discussion of politics and let’s continue to obliterate them until we truly do have separation of church and state. Let’s never again have religion in any form be a part of our government. I’m not kidding about this; I’d like to see organized religion of any creed completely wiped out. I’ve forgotten who said that mankind would never be free until the last priest was crushed by the last stone of the last church but he had his cap on straight.

What do you feel you are unable to do because of “fanatics,” and what do you mean by “we’ll explode?”

Who is “they?”

I didn’t mean by you asshole. How can you possibly know that? Execution by beheading does have a certain Islamist connotation these days, and an angry Muslim military insurgent is still and angry Muslim.

And looky here: Five Dead in Second Day of Quran Burning Protests

The article reports that the Taliban are exploiting or orchestrating the situation, but there clearly plenty of authentic rage underlying the violence.

It’s not like there are strictly 2 kinds of people over there, those who are committing acts of violence but who are indifferent to the Quran burning and those who are angry about it but who are remaining non-violent. I think there’s some overlap.

I think that everybody who wants to be violent is already being violent. I don’t believe that the Quran burning is the one thing that’s going to push anybody over to the dark side. The US has done a hell of a lot worse than that.

Pastor Moustache didn’t kill anyone. That’s not an “attitude,” that’s a hard fact. All your blathering about people like him being murderers is just you straining to connect dots with your fat crayon.

Um, so we’re in agreement, then? The tome of your post seems like we’re not, but the words make it seem like we are. I’ll go with the latter.

Kill Muslims at random. Look at all the people who supported our slaughter of the Iraqis by referring to 9-11.

He’d be showing his outrage without killing and beheading anyone?

I’ve got an even more radical idea. Let’s embrace reality on REALITY’S terms, pay attention to what’s ACTUALLY happening, and let go of dumbass cowboy shit like this idiocy.

But that will never fucking happen. Not in America. And obviously not at the SDMB.

 No, he’s just calling for us to “explode”. Far more moral and enlightened.

Because he destroyed his own property to make a point instead of killing innocent people to try to bully foreigners?

He said we should show our outrage by “exploding,” which means what?

You’re right – I went back and checked and I appologized. My only explanation is that I get sick of all the religious bashing threads anymore.

Tell me, how the hell can you still see your computer screen, what with it covered with so much spittle?

You’ll have to ask him what he meant by it. I did, however respond to Elvis without seeing flickster’s subsequent statement. I started at the top of the page and scrolled down and responded when I got to the question from Elvis. Depending on flickster’s answer to your question about what he means by “explode”, I may or may have not posted what I did. But it seems to me that getting angry and stomping one’s feet and giving them the finger and burning books is a much less barbaric way of dealing with things than killing and beheading people. But maybe that’s just me.

Nonsense. He killed those UN workers just as much as the people who committed the actual act. That’s why he did what he did. He knew he could whip up religious hate, get people killed, and then sit back and smirk while people like you defend him. The Right does that all the time.

 Ah, yes. I’m one of the ones not calling for religious hatred and violence and I’m the one spitting on the screen.
