Aborted drunken rant:

Here’s mine:

Terry Jones.

Not the renowned naked organist, pepperpot, and mouse abuser.

I love him.

The evil other one wants to become a huge real life troll. I bet Phelps is really pissed (god hates folks who , uh, hate…? Awww CRAP!)
He wins; I want him to die. Soon. Pure fucking evil, and better off dead.

I’ll even offer a bounty for his mustache, I need a new merkin.

I’ll never understand folks who think their rules are the world’s rules. Maybe if you’ve never left the town you grew up in. Maybe if you only speak one language. Maybe if you’ve never lived in another country. T.J. did all that, and ended up in Florida. So fuck the 50 families that make up his church, too.

You know what? Fuck all. I hate this shit. I hated it when we lost the towers to a bunch of deluded Saudis. I hated it when we invaded Iraq for no fucking real reason. I really hate that there are people I deal with every day that have a real problem with our president 'cause he’s not white.

I hate remembering when it was fun and cool to be an American in any other place than the US. Really, folks in other countries thought we were the shit, for quite a while. In some places, they still do, and they’re really dying to try to get in. Only to get shit on and sent to the outdoor desert jail sheds by some octogenarian near Phoenix who got pissed that her shrubs weren’t trimmed left-to-right.

I don’t know where I’m going with this, so fuck it. Fuck everyone who can’t see that nearly every damn thing our country has done since Sept. 11 was the WRONG damn thing.

Vodka and Ginger Ale are quite tasty when mixed properly.

I saw a news clip of this guy…what kind of pastor keeps a gun on his desk?

A pastor with a really small, broken brain. Or penis. Probably both.

I will pay for his mustache, though.

The guy is insane and deserves whatever ostracizing he gets. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail and the ‘burning’ won’t happen.

The kind that want you to know he has a gun on his desk while the cameras are around. Gee, I wonder why.

I think that instead of giving this crybaby any attention local Christian churches should be trying to contact each member of his congregation and invite them to join a church with Christian values instead of stupidity.

I read somewhere that the fire marshal has refused to allow the burning - so even if they get started, the fd may come and put the whole thing out.

I wonder if it will cool everyone’s temper if he gets thrown behind bars for violating a no-burning ordinance? Granted, that is just a slap on the wrist, but its something official stopping his behavior.

Saw coverage of him on Nightline, he carries the gun on his person at all times. He also thinks Jesus would join him in burning Korans if he were still around. He probably also thinks Jesus would wear a Hulk Hogan mustache and carry a gun around his church, too. Just like him, because Jesus was a real badass.

I don’t see any ostracism coming from anyone he would relate to. Or maybe the media refuses to cover all the far-right people* who are condemning this. Because wacky miracles like that happen, sometimes.

*i.e. any Republican currently in national office outside of New England, and any Republican candidate for national office.

Sarah Palin and Glen Beck have weighed in against the Koran burning. Do they count?

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand it should be allowed as free speech. On the other hand Muslims are just people, some good, some bad, and most just trying to get by. I have some pretty extreme hate for what goes on in the middle east in regards to human rights, but I think that’s a demonstration of the evils of amalgamating church and state, suppressing human rights, and of carrying grudges across generational lines.

Ultimately just like a Klan demonstration this should be allowed to happen, but ideally American society should look to it with the same contempt the Klan gets.

I want to know why the fuck this guy is getting any media attention. If everybody on the political spectrum from Palin to Moore and back again is condemning this guy, and the guy won’t shut up, then it’s time for a heavy dose of DNFTT.

The US military is already on record as saying “media coverage of this will hurt US troops abroad.” I’m all for the media going out of its way to inform the public, but I see no upside in letting me know what some bugfuck crazyass is up to in his trailer park church. And you just fucking know every major news network is going to be there when Rev. Insane torches the Koran. Thanks a million, “media.”

I will pay to burn his mustache.

It gives him the look of a Southern Gothic patriarch. The kind who could beat his first-born son to death, then sit down and finish breakfast.

He’s also apparently going to burn the Talmud. Nobody’s quite sure why.

Buuuut he lost his ISP.

**The cock and his flock: **I burning your Koran!

It seems uncharacteristic of them. Yes they do count.

I’m wondering what would happen if someone turned up at the burning with Bibles in Koran dust jackets.

Uncharacteristic that they actually oppose the burning or that they were vocal about their opposition? I can’t imagine either one of them supporting something like that. As for being vocal, they may just be following the lead of Petraeus.

I can imagine either of them going on about “why do you even say they can’t do that! It’s freedom of speech!” ignoring the fact that Obama hasn’t said they couldn’t do it, just saying that he thinks it’s wrong. That said, they can’t be very vocal about it if I haven’t heard about it amongst the media coverage. But still, I thought there was a good chance that at least some rightists opposed this, especially like you said when Petraeus came out against it. I just hadn’t, and still have not, heard about their refudiation of this from a news source.

Both of them have couched their opposition to the Koran burning as equivalent to opposing the GZM, in that both are about ‘sensitivity’. Never mind that one was conceived to inflame and offend, while the other is trying to build a center of cultural outreach. In the minds of the right wing, they are both sauce for the goose.
