80's movies, my guilty pleasure

Ran into a copy of All the right moves, starring Tom Cruise and Lea Tompson, and its been a while since I seen the movie. Now I more or less identify with the secondary characters in the movie that actually had to work in the foundry and steel mills, and the ones that get laid off, than the kids actually looking forward to the rest of their lives .

Now I have to decide between Lea Tompson and Phobe Cates for the most awesome chick in the 80’s genre, I was never really all that thrilled with Molly Ringwald.

Howard the Duck is generally considered an awful movie, but from my memory Lea Thompson was outstandingly hot in it, in a very 80s way.

Lea Thompson is mine you vultures! Back! Get back before I stab you with this stick!

waves stick around wildly

Indeed. I’ve more than once considered watching the dumb movie again, for that very reason.

My guilty pleasure is Strange Brew, the Bob and Doug McKenzie movie (which was actually based on Hamlet).

Well, IMHO, Mary Stuart Masterson stole the spotlight from the hotness of Lea Thompson in Some Kind of Wonderful, and Molly Ringwald never did anything for me, but Phoebe Cates was an 80’s teen chick icon (cue Movin in Stereo)

You can’t have a discussion about '80s movie without mentioning all the great action flicks that came out of that era.

Yes, some were really cheesy and over-the-top but I love them - Commando, Predator, Scarface, Die Hard, Rocky IV.

Was not aware we needed to choose.

Difficult choice.

Will not get to a decision this week.

Maybe next.

My 80’s movie guilty pleasure combined with my 80’s female dirty pleasure

Fast Times at Ridgemont High - Phoebe Cates.

This is true, the 80’s were a very broad genre of movie streams, did the nineties or the aughts have that kind of spread in both music and movies.

We are not even talkin bout 80’s porn either lol.

I had a HUGE crush on Lea Thompson. Watched Howard the Duck multiple times. Recorded All the Right Moves off HBO so I could pause the tape when she got naked. Recorded *Space Camp *and watched it practically every day for a couple of months. Space Camp!

Excuse me, “Space Camp” is an awesome movie.

I almost had a combination 80s-movie/nerdgasm a few years back when they were going to land the shuttle at White Sands. Just like in Space Camp!!! But then it didn’t happen. Sadness.

I wore out my copy of “Real Genius,” also within the nerd/80s movie genre. When Val Kilmer jimmies the soda machine with a slice of liquid nitrogen… swoon.

Oh I hate and love you so much. I saw the thread title and came in to pitch Howard but I’ve been beaten to the punch!

It’s hilarious. So bad it’s good. And Lea Thompson is hot as helllll.

I’m currently watching Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome! True 80s nonsense there! No hot chicks though.

Excellent massive hair: check.

Lovely face: check.

Short skirts: check.

Lounging in underwear: check
Plus hot Girl-Duck action…
I love that movie.

[ I thought Jeffrey Jones a remarkably unappreciated actor, as well. ]

I love, love, LOVE “Real Genius”.

“Can you hammer a six-inch spike through a board with your penis?”
“Not right now.”
“A girl’s gotta have her standards.”

Yeah, I always liked him as an actor. Too bad he turned out to be a pedophile.

One of the most quotable movies of the decade.

“Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?”

My number 1 80s movie is Night of the Comet.

I call a tie between *Fast Times at Ridgemont High *and *Valley Girl *for the greatest guilty pleasure movie of the Eighties. And both of the soundtracks rock!

I always had a thing for Lea Thompson - I don’t know, she just seems sweet. But for pure hotness, Phoebe Cates was it. Which would I pick? Sweet lasts longer, so if she is as sweet as I always thought, Lea.
