80's Nostalgia

Remember it? I can still sing the damn theme song!

Speaking of old Nickelodeon shows, who else remembers ‘Today’s Special’, ‘You Can’t Do That on Television’, or ‘Danger Mouse’?

in your pants, there was always a mist-filled alley
right around the corner.

As a senior member of this generation (b. 1965)let me most firmly state that I NEVER thought Ronald Reagan was cool.

You hit the mark on most everything else, though.

Anybody else remember the New Zoo Revue?

Been here so long he’s got to calling it Home.

Trout, I remember all of those. We were allowed to watch as much Nickelodeon as we wanted (as opposed to other channels, where we were only allowed to watch certain shows.) I think if my mother had ever seen “You Can’t Do That” then that rule would have been rescinded!

There was another show that used to come on, and I think it was on Nickelodeon, called “Dusty’s Treehouse” or something like that. My brother (b. 1980) and I (b. 1976) talked about this not too long ago, but we can’t remember anything else about it.

The only thing I remember about “3-2-1 Contact” is the opening credits and song and “The Bloodhound Gang.”

One of my favorite future scenarios: As this generation ( well, the whole TV generation) aheads into old age, and everyone’s mind starts to go… The rest homes are gonna be full of people humming theme songs, fingers twitching to old Sega impulses, and conversing with TV characters. That’s gonna be pretty strange…

A friend of mine once said that he thinks a lot of people in nursery homes years from now will still be in the habit of saying “Beavis” right after the word “Dammit.”

I’ve got to report that Steve Strange - now unmeployed lead singer of 80’s New Rom band Visage - narrowly avoided jail on the charge of shoplifting clothes and cosmetics this week. So, another Romo revival bites the dust.

Sesame Street if I’m not mistaken.

The thing I remember about 3…2…1…Contact is the cute caucasian girl (Lisa, I think). What a babe!

God is my co-pilot. Blame Him.
