http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3077991790&category=1503

$4,550.06 when i last checked.

I want 777-9311

Who wants to guess why?

Beacuse it’s a song by Morris Day and the Time, that’s why!

What area code is that 867-5309 number in? Oh, I see. 212.

IUnfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint), exchange 530 in area code 867 is not in use.

When they were putting new area codes in the Toronto area, I was hoping we’d get area code 234. Then I would have tried my damndest to get the number 1-234-567-8901.

Somebody bring me a mirror!

Is it time to get my hair done yet?

I walk 'n shake my head

I’m cool til I’m dead

Enough has been said

Come on baby let’s go to bed!

It’s hard to believe that people actually want that number.
Here’s what “snopes” has to say about it.
http://www.snopes.com/music/songs/8675309.htm
Also they mention it has been used in a recent Cingular TV ad:
**
Sightings: “867-5309 (Jenny)” serves as the centerpiece for a 2004 Cingular television ad touting number portability.**

I’ve always liked that song but I certainly would NOT want that number. I wonder (whoever wins that number), how many whacky calls they are going to get per day such as “Is Jenny there?” OR people playing the song.

Holy Cripes! Five grand???

Some enterprising individual should work on getting 867-5309 in every area code, and put those on Ebay as well.

It’s over $30K right now at 114 bids. Still six days to go.

Now over $41K. Jesus.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting that number; I’ve called the one in my area code a dozen times (in the name of science) and the same person has never had it for more than two months.

65,000? Poor seller- there’s no way anyone is really planning to pay them.

I totally agree on the belief that whoever gets that number will be getting smart asses calling them at all hours of the day and night.

If the purchaser was a telemarketer, however…

Well, that’s just sublime.

Check out the bid now.

Wow.

If this actually was sold, this seller is a genious.

Believe it or not, it’s now at $200,200.00 Holy crap. The seller is a genius.

I certainly wouldn’t pay for this number for personal use, but I can see how it would be a good business investment.

Boy! if this number were for sale when the movie “Brewsters Millions” came out…
[Movie with Richard Prior and John Candy… early to mid 80’s]

There was a segment on last night’s news about this auction. It turns out the seller * does not own the phone number.* All phone numbers are owned by the phone company, and you cannot sell them.

I bet the high bidders know that.

B.S.

That’s what they tried to say about domain names.

Current bid: US $100,100.00 (Reserve met)

The top bidder right now has a feedback rating of 46.

Not too shabby.

“Jenny don’t change your number!”

Damn! I opened this thread JUST to ask why Morris Day can’t get some respect!

I was in third grade when 867-5309 started hitting the airwaves. In our area (Fort Bragg, NC), that was the phone number of a grade school (our home phone at the time was 867-4622). I wonder how long it took before they changed it.
