Before Bush ever ran for President I was in favor of removing Saddam. The United States was a sitting duck in Saudi Arabia and it was becoming another Bosnia or Kosovo. As the World’s policeman we were permanently mired in an unstable region and we ended up paying for it.

I read through the thread, and perhaps I missed it, but I’d still like to know how anyone considers the Iraq situation to be an improvement over “mired in an unstable region”. Because, you know, that’s such a bizarre thing to say.

I’m still around. Still slightly amused by all of this.

Of course fanatical was modifying Muslim. I don’t disagree with that. Sorry, I’m shaking my head wondering how we got here. (Yes, 2 adjectives and a noun is right too.)

Me: Saddam’s a fanatical Muslim dictator.
Someone else: He’s not Muslim, he’s secular.
Someone else: He belongs to a socialist party.
Me: What, he can’t be Muslim and socialist?
Someone else: Fanatical Muslim dictator is misguided.
Me: He’s a Sunni Muslim who oppressed Shiite Muslims.
Someone else: Oh, well he’s a Muslim alright, but he’s secular.
Me: So you agree he’s Muslim. Fine, my opinion is that he’s also fanatical and a dictator.
Someone else: Ooohhh backpedaling.
Me: Sighhhh…(Abbot and Costello, where are you?)

Anyway, I know this is the Pit and all, but I don’t think we’re solving anything, which is why I wanted to bow out; but you keep pulling me back in!

Option A: He’s fanatical, Muslim, and a dictator.
Option B: He’s a fanatical Muslim dictator.

There is, in my view, a difference in meaning as between these two sentences.
