A $200 trash can?!

The solar one gives me the willies. When I heard about it, the first thing I thought of was “Take one solar-power public compactor trash bin. Add one sadistic (&^%&* and one kitten…”

Well that’s why you’d need to add the onboard computer with ai capabilities and infrared sensors to prevent any unfortunate incidents. A wireless link to alert the owners of their pet’s wherabouts would also be helpful.

Let me guess. You’re one of those people that bought a DVD player for $500 when they first came out, and now you’re all pissed off that people who sensibly waited a few years can pick them up for $50 or less now, right?

I don’t even buy trash bags. I fill my empty dogfood bags. I live alone and don’t generate much trash, which I take to the collection center myself. I go through 50 pounds of dogfood every two weeks and I just use that.

I also use empty 20lb Iams cat food bags and 40lb Equine Pine bags for taking out trash. Those pine pellet bags are thicker than some tarps I’ve bought!

AndyPolley, he doesn’t have a dog. Also, he’s living in a lousy area of Huntington, sort of near Centerport, where it’s not a good idea to have expensive items.

As far as we all know, there’s no good reason for him to have spent so much money on this one item. He’s pouring a lot of money into fixing up the house as it is, why throw $200 away on a trash can?

That butterfly can looks like it was made by Simple Human. We have one of their round stainless steel cans in our pantry. I bought it at Lowe’s, the hardware/lumber store, can’t remember how much it cost, but I’m sure it wasn’t over $100; probably more like $70. I wanted a nice durable steel trash can, is all.

The butterfly top is nice if you want to keep the can under an overhanging counter that would be too tall to accommodate an ordinary swing-up top. We keep our dog’s food and water under our overhang, so we didn’t need the butterfly.

A $200 trash can with infrared sensors and onboard computer.

For public use there’s always this solar-powered trash can or wireless trashcans .

And still in the experimental phase are multimedia trashcans.

aren’t most trashcans already wireless? I don’t see any wires on mine…
and WHY Og WHY would anyone want to see a film of the trash already inside the can???

HoldEverything used to be easier for me to avoid, because they only recently added online shopping. I’m too lazy to get around to catalogue shopping (I have to call someone? On the phone?) and too weak to carry any of that stuff home on the subway.

Now…well… I’m doomed.
