A 25 year old is not a fucking kid! It's an adult responsible for their actions

How old is too old to for people to claim “He/She’s just a kid being young and dumb”? Like Jason Whitlock in this article about Riley Cooper “Cooper isn’t a coach or executive with the power to hire and fire people based on his racial biases. Cooper is a player. He’s a 25-year-old kid with immature thoughts. His teammates will move on as long as he plays at a high level.”

And countless articles about 20 year old Johnny Manziel that refer to him as a kid.

It seemed like people played the “She’s just a young dumb kid card” for the first few years of Lindsay Lohans clusterfuck of an adult life. Same for pretty much every celebrity that does something stupid if they are under the age of 30.

These people aren’t kids. They may be immature but they know what the fuck they are doing. Being 20-25 years old doesn’t make NCOs in the military kids. It doesn’t make murderers and rapists kids. 2 decades of life should prepare you to not be a fucking douche, or a rapist, or racist. 2 decades is a long fucking time.

So please, media, stop handing out the excuse that “such and such a celebrity is just a kid so the dumb shit they did is less heinous.” It’s just not true.

I can’t get too worked up at calling a 20 yr.-old a kid in a colloquial sense. It’s a bit of a stretch, but they haven’t yet reached the full legal age of majority in the U.S. for things like booze and let’s face it - 20 yr.-olds pull almost as much stupid shit as teenagers. They’re not quite there yet as an adult.

But 25? 25 has crossed the line for me. At 25 your brain should have reached maturity, more or less. Whether or not you have your shit together, you should by that time be responsible for having your shit together.

I assume everyone is immature unless proven otherwise.

Well, considering how long many folks call a kid a “baby”, I suppose that means that they can be a kid longer than they should as well.

Whether he’s a kid or not, Whitlock still shouldn’t have given him the pass. Considering these players are million-dollar entities unto themselves, they more than bear their own responsibilities or can hire someone to teach them how

If Mister Tact & Congeniality was a QB, there’s a simple cure for this sort of thing. Let the offensive linemen pull a couple “Oh shit!” blocks.
