To spare the emails: this was originally vanilla, and she has snuck back in several times.
We’ve always been sympathetic to people who accept their banning, apologize and ask to come back and try to do better… as long as they’re open about it. It’s the sneakiness, the fraud, the con-artist, the “I’m smart enough to get around the rules” attitude that we don’t like, for obvious reasons.
So you’ll be taking over the enlightenment duties now? Cool, I was about to knock off for supper anyway.

Ah, well. Since Dex has revealed the Good Egg/vanilla identity, I’ll link to the Fathom thread wherein she outs herself and gloats about it. Such unmitigated gall.
A sharp-eyed member of the board saw a jerkish post relating to abortion. He/she sent a report to me, a mod, suggesting that he/she had seen this before and I took it from there.
Thanks for your help in this matter. You and the others in this thread who seem to have known for some time that this was a returning member. Of course, with over 25,000 posts on your plate, you probably had better things to do.

Why did you do that, Q.E.D.? It’s bad enough that the stupid bitch came to FFF to gloat, but why feed any real or imagined animosity between the boards by linking to it?
I neither know of nor care about any “animosity” between this board and the other. It’s not as though the link to that thread isn’t being emailed all over the place; I just made it easier to find. I felt people had a right to know about her shameless gloating. If the PTB feel it’s inappropriate, they’ll remove it.
I dunno. I, like many others evidently, assumed it a long time ago (similar posting and thread styles, remarkably unconcidental sign-up date, lack of personal details from an otherwise loquacious poster) but it never occured to me to report it. I figured if it was obvious to me, a not particularly prolific poster, the mods must know. Truthfully, I assumed y’all let her stay as a pity move (and I’m not saying she shouldn’t have been banned in both cases, she clearly broke the rules). This person clearly has very little social life or activities outside the internet too spend so much time and effort on one board.
Yeah, I sorta figured that if indeed it was vanilla, you guys ought to have noticed. Generally other returnees have been caught considerably quicker. Basically, it seemed so obvious to me that I figured it had been the first thing that got checked.
We tend to notice the squeaky wheels. And they tend to get reported.
We just don’t have the time to do it all. A poster who returns and behaves him/herself is pretty hard for us to notice.

Yeah, I really did. I’m tired of long-term posters coming in to any controversial thread having to do with the administration of this board with a “why didn’t you dumbasses figure this out? We did long ago” attitude. It wears thin after all the work we put in.
The mods generally make announcements when they allow a banned poster to return, a la lissener and briefly, Collunsbury. But if someone comes back with a different user name, chances are they don’t know.
The Angel of Death, hereafter referred to as “Lynn,” has no pity. Dex is the only one of us who has pity. And we gang up on him all the time, for his own good.
There is NO ONE posting on this board out of any hint of pity from the Administration or Mods. It just isn’t done. Yes we have been known to give second chances. It doesn’t usually work out, but Dex is such a softie. 
This was just a case of a poster flaunting the rules. And finally getting slapped for it. Mills/Gods/slowly/fine

Just curious, how much help do you want in chasing socks/trolls.
I already report suspicious Newbie trolls, all I can do as I am newish.
Maybe veteran and clever posters like **Excalibre, tremorviolet & Q.E.D. ** can try and send by alerts/ Emails when they have such suspicions in the future of returning banned members.
Would you like this? If they feel comfortable doing so, should they?
Please spell it out for us. We all know not to bring it up in a thread, but beyond that it is a fuzzy area.

The rule generally is, use the exclamation point even if you just have a suspicion. The mods will take it from there. If there’s enough posts reported, they may be able to note a pattern and confirm the suspicion.
When in doubt, report.
All we can get, and then some.
This board continues to be one of the best/if not the best out there because of the caliber of its posters. As in any organization there will be members who just don’t want to play by the rules. And, rather than take their membership to somewhere they are appreciated, they would rather stick around for the sole purpose of causing trouble/creating havoc.
If you suspect someone of being a sock/troll/spammer, just report the post to a mod/Admin. Heck, if you just think someone was violating the rules, just report the post. We read these reports as fast as we can and act on them accordingly. Some of us have real lives and your report may not get read for many hours. Sometimes we don’t agree with your analysis. But we don’t hold that against you. But if it doesn’t get reported it may slip under the radar.
If you feel like a tattletale by reporting, then don’t do it. But it’s your board. It’s what you make of it. We’re mostly human(well, except Lynn), and we can only do so much.
samclem: Thank you for clearing that up. I think it helps to see it posted and it is what I thought you would say. Hopefully posters will take you up on the request.
