A bad night's sleep has convinced me. . .

I have definitely reached a saturation point with the election coverage. I try to stay up to date with the primary information (interviews, speeches, debates, etc.) but I have no tolerance left for opinion pieces. I have to take the longer videos in short bits - 15 minutes or less. It is physically painful to me at this point.

We are so close to a fascist United States of America. The thought of our military under the thumb of Donald Trump again, within the context of Project 2025 is just so terrifying. This time, they are prepared to take advantage.

Still, I do my best to walk the line between staying informed and passing information along, and being totally debilitated by the horror.

Doctor, my eyes have seen the years
And the slow parade of fears without crying
Now I want to understand
I have done all that I could
To see the evil and the good without hiding
You must help me if you can

Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what is wrong
Was I unwise to leave them open for so long?

Lately, I have been taking a 2 day break btwn news cycles. I feel that there is so much repetition, and I don’t need to hear someone talk yet again about “Why Magas are the Way They Are,” and “How Can Anyone Still be Undecided”, and Ezra Klein’s take on it all. The Bulwark seems to stay fresh for me, but they often say amusing stuff, so that helps. Stay informed on your local races, though. I am swimming in a sea of red, but I know we dems are out there and I am seeing more Walz Harris signs and Yes on 3 (Missouri’s Abortion Amendment), so we won’t go down without a fight. St Louis and Kansas City voters do all they can to overcome this stuff, but we are fighting rural voters, who are determined. I can now early vote and can do so, and there are 3 of us in this household for Kamala, for Lucas Kunce, (running against Hawley) for Amendment 3. In the meantime, there are some movies on Criterion I am dying to see…

Most annoying for me is when the title is something like “MAGA apologist lies found out” or whatever, where you’re hoping that in the war against gaslighting there will be some minor victory, at last.

But instead, the bulk of the video is listening to a MAGA spokesperson lying over and over, uninterrupted, and the “found out” part just means there’s tepid pushback at the end, or a person comments on a clip of the spokesperson and debunks the lies.

So it’s yet another video that just makes me more angry about the gaslighting.

Fool me 376 times with this kind of clip, shame on you, fool me…um…you can’t get fooled again.
